CNN Host Don Lemon Says He’s Being Harassed — Blames Trump!

CNN host Don Lemon has been hammering President Trump for years.

In January, he opened his CNN Tonight show with this declaration: “The President of the United States is racist.” He offered no proof, of course, it was just his opinion. Lemon has also called Trump supporters “brainwashed” and has said the Trump-era “level of toxicity” makes him fear for his safety, which could prompt him to leave the liberal news network.

Lemon doubled down on those claims on Thursday.

“I was doing a shoot in the park the other day and someone said, ‘We built this country. I can’t wait for CNN to fire your black ass, you faggot,'” Lemon said during an appearance at the FT Future of News Summit. “So, all of those sorts of people call you on the phone and say those things, or they write you. I don’t go on social media any more, it’s so toxic.”

Lemon added that Trump’s personal attacks “take a toll on me, on my privacy and safety and security, and the safety and security of my family.”

The CNN host said he gets some 300 calls a day from one Trump supporter who doesn’t like him, The Hollywood Reporter wrote. Others have found his address and send him “junk mail.”

“People call the authorities and accuse me of doing certain things,” Lemon said.

While the anchor professed to love his job, he said, “I wonder how long I will continue to do this particular job in the way I do it,” citing the toxicity of the political-media climate.

Added Lemon, “It ain’t easy, but I don’t plan to give up.”

Lemon added: “I don’t know if it’s worth this level of toxicity. I’m 10 years older than when he rode down the escalator in July 2015. It doesn’t mean I don’t have a commitment to journalism, it just means I may want to do it a different way.”

Trump has hit Lemon for what he believes is biased coverage.

“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” Trump wrote in August 2018.

“Don Lemon is a lightweight – dumb as a rock,” Trump wrote in August 2016.

Lemon, meanwhile, has attacked Trump, saying he should get off Twitter. “We know this president tweets from early morning until late night,” Lemon said on his show in Januaury. “But I want you to remember, remember during the 2016 campaign, then-candidate Trump said he was going to work really, really hard.”

Trump also hit Lemon after a report that he watches TV all day.

“Another false story, this time in the Failing [New York Times], that I watch 4-8 hours of television a day — Wrong! Also, I seldom, if ever, watch CNN or MSNBC, both of which I consider Fake News. I never watch Don Lemon, who I once called the ‘dumbest man on television!’ Bad Reporting,” Trump wrote on Twitter in December 2017.

But the anchor thinks he’s loftier than the president of the United States, saying he decided “not to punch down” by responding to Trump. “A cable news anchor saying, ‘I don’t punch down at the president.’ That’s where we are,” he said Thursday.
