Biden Waffles on Impeachment in Response to Mueller Statement

Leading Democrat presidential contender Joe Biden waffled on impeaching President Trump in a campaign statement issued in response to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s remarks at the Justice Department Wednesday morning about his investigation into President Trump and Russian influence operations on the 2016 election.

While other Democrat rivals called for impeachment Wednesday, the former Obama vice president played it both ways–not calling for impeachment but calling on Congress to continue investigations into Trump that could lead to impeachment.

The close of Biden’s statement waffles on impeachment, “Vice President Biden agrees with Speaker Pelosi that no one would relish what would certainly be a divisive impeachment process, but that it may be unavoidable if this Administration continues on its path. For all these reasons and many more, Vice President Biden will continue to make the case as to why President Trump should not be re-elected. That is the surefire way to get him out of office.”

Biden’s rivals did not waffle.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA):

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ):

Biden leads the Democrat field with 38 percent support, trailed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT) at 20 percent and all others in single digits, according to a Morning Consult poll released Tuesday.
