Former bartender, socialist freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) fired off a warning to President Donald Trump on Wednesday, “(the) Last guy who underestimated me lost. That’s all I gotta say about that,” in response to Trump mocking her Green New Deal as the product of a 29-year-old bartender. Ocasio-Cortez made her comments to Newsweek.
Trump spoke about the Green New Deal during a speech Tuesday night at a NRCC fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C.
“The Green New Deal, done by a young bartender, 29 years old. A young bartender, wonderful young woman. The Green New Deal. The first time I heard it I said, ‘That’s the craziest thing.’ You have senators that are professionals, that you guys know that have been there for a long time … and they’re standing behind her shaking. They’re petrified of her.”

Last summer, Ocasio-Cortez defeated ten -term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th Congressional District Democratic Party primary in an upset of the fourth most powerful Democrat in the House. Ocasio-Cortez instantly became a media star, receiving fawning coverage that has continued since she took office three months ago, including a recent cover of Time and an hour-long town hall on MSNBC last Friday.
A recent Quinnipiac poll showed Ocasio-Cortez has a 23 percent approval rating.
