JUST IN: Matt Whitaker OUT at Justice Department

Matt Whitaker

Former Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker abruptly departed the Justice Department over the weekend without explanation.

A Justice Department spokesman told The Hill that Whitaker left the DOJ on Saturday but did not disclose any detail surrounding his departure or his plans going forward.

Whitaker’s abrupt departure comes just weeks after Bill Barr was confirmed as President Trump’s new Attorney General.

Whitaker was a US Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa for several years before becoming Chief of Staff to then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in September of 2017.

Matt Whitaker was appointed Acting Attorney General following Jeff Sessions’ resignation as Attorney General in November of 2018.

Shortly after Whitaker became Acting Attorney General, the Democrats moved in for the kill because they feared he would impede on their precious Mueller inquisition.

House Democrats called in Whitaker to testify recently on the Mueller witch hunt and his communications with President Trump — Whitaker relentlessly trolled and mocked the unhinged lawmakers during the hearing.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler said he would be calling Whitaker back for additional testimony, alleging his answers were “unsatisfactory, incomplete or contradicted by other evidence.”
