BREAKING: Ralph Northam Calls For “Urgent” Staff Meeting Amid Calls For His Resignation

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam called an urgent meeting with his top level staff Sunday evening, including with his Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax.

The embattled Democrat Governor is under tremendous pressure to resign after a 1984 medical school yearbook photo of him, presumably in either blackface or a KKK robe surfaced on Friday.

The urgent meeting with his staff includes his Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax, ABC 7 News reported.

An NBC News affiliate said Northam’s meeting started at 6 p.m. local time.

Northam remained defiant all weekend and refused to resign despite mounting pressure from both Democrats and Republicans.

Ralph Northam held a bizarre press conference on Saturday where he claimed he saw the racist yearbook photo for the first time in his life on Friday when a staffer brought it to his attention.

The Governor admitted to wearing blackface in 1984 when he dressed up as Michael Jackson for a dance contest, however he maintained he was not in the racist yearbook photo.

On Friday, Northam initially admitted he was in the racist photo and apologized for the hurt he caused.

Update: NBC is reporting that Northam’s Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax was not in the Sunday night meeting as originally reported by ABC News.
