Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) blasted the Democrats on Wednesday for negotiating on behalf of illegal aliens instead of American citizens.
Appearing on Fox News, Gaetz discussed the government shutdown, which has now entered day twelve.
“What the president is not willing to compromise on are the outcomes,” Gaetz told Fox News. “I think he is willing to negotiate inputs, whether it’s more or less wall, more or less fencing, or slats, or drones or technology. What he is not going to compromise on is the safety of the American family or the protection of the American economy that’s needed.”
Gaetz explained that he knows who President Trump is working for — but that he can’t say the same about the Democrats.
“I don’t really who Democrats are negotiating for. I mean, are they really negotiating for illegal immigrants,” he asked.
Prior to the shutdown, Gaetz appeared on ‘Justice with Judge Jeanine’ and urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to use the nuclear option to get border security funding.
“We’re going to have real border security or we’re going to have a long shutdown, Judge,” Gaetz said at the time.
