Pelosi Still Won’t Allow President Trump to Deliver SOTU Address From House Chamber – Even Though He Agreed to Reopen Govt

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) still won’t allow President Trump to deliver his State of the Union address from the House Chamber even though he reopened the government.

President Trump was originally scheduled to give his SOTU speech from the House Chamber on Tuesday, but Pelosi refused to allow it citing security concerns due to the government shutdown.

The President ended the shutdown on Friday and agreed to reopen the government without border wall funding.

Trump signed a short term continuing resolution to fund the Department of Homeland Security through February 15.

At a presser on Friday following Trump’s announcement to reopen the government, Pelosi said, “The State of the Union is not planned now.” The Speaker added that discussions about the date of the SOTU will take place after the shutdown officially ended.

Pelosi’s aide confirmed to CNN on Monday that the SOTU that was originally scheduled for Jan 29 is still not happening.

POLL: Who do you blame for the Government shutdown – Trump or the Democrats?

Trump threatened to shut down the government again in three weeks if a deal is not made to build a border wall. President Trump added that he will use constitutional powers to build the wall if he has to.
