Far Left California Gov. Gavin Newsom Sues Coastal City in Orange County Over Lack of Low-Income Housing

Newly-elected far left Governor of California, Gavin Newsom is suing the city of Huntington Beach over lack of low-income housing.

Huntington Beach, dubbed ‘Surf City USA,’ is a city on the Southern California coastline in Orange County, a traditionally conservative enclave that boasts multi-million dollar beach front properties.

Newsom is using a new law to push low-income, government dependent renters into Huntington Beach.

Gavin Newsom said in a statement:

“Cities and counties are important partners in addressing this housing crisis, and many cities are taking herculean efforts to meet this crisis head-on. But some cities are refusing to do their part to address this crisis and willfully stand in violation of California law. Those cities will be held to account.”

Huntington Beach City Attorney Michael Gates said in response to Newsom’s lawsuit, “I take exception to Sacramento telling us we haven’t always been following the law. We have been.”

“Our shortfall right now is approximately 400 units, so compare to the 1,353 we were assigned in 2014, 400 is not bad,” Gates added.

Michael Gates argues there are inaccuracies in Newsom’s lawsuit against Huntington Beach and says developers are required to provide a percentage of low-income housing in every multi-unit project.

Gates vows to fight the lawsuit and said that he believes over 50 cities are out of compliance, yet only Huntington Beach has been named as a defendant.

Many people are speculating perhaps Newsom is seeking revenge on Huntington Beach since they were one of the cities in Orange County that fought back against the state’s dangerous sanctuary city laws.

Orange County as a whole is being taken over by far left fanatics after being flooded with illegal aliens and Middle Eastern ‘refugees.’

The Communists Democrats in California targeted the traditionally conservative county in Southern California with ‘ballot harvesting’ during the 2018 midterms and turned the entire county blue.

Orange County is not a cheap place to live due to beautiful whether and gorgeous coastline views. If people can’t afford to live in Orange County, there is always an option to move to Riverside County, a more affordable alternative in Southern California.

Obviously this lawsuit by Newsom isn’t about helping people live in more affordable apartments, it’s about permanently changing the demographic of a once conservative place.
