BREAKING: FL Gov. Ron DeSantis Suspends Broward County Sheriff Israel For His “Repeated Failures, Incompetence and Neglect of Duty”

Newly elected Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel Friday and suspended him.

“Effective immediately, I am officially suspending Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel for his repeated failures, incompetence and neglect of duty,” DeSantis said linking to the suspension notice.

Governor DeSantis details the failures of Sheriff Scott Israel in handling shooter Nikolas Cruz going back to the several warnings his department received prior to the massacre.

WHEREAS, prior to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Broward County Sheriff’s Office had a total of 21 interactions with the shooter, including two incidents that an internal affairs investigation later found warranted additional follow-up and

WHEREAS, the first of the above incidents occurred in February 2016 when the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooter posted a picture of a gun with a statement similar to “I am going to get this fun when I turn 18 and shoot up the school”

WHEREAS, Broward County Deputy Eason, acting on behalf of and in place of Sheriff Israel, did not complete an incident report, but instead noted in CAD, “No threats noted and info forwarded to (SRO) Peterson at school.”

Earlier this week rumors were flying that Scott Israel’s suspension over his response to the Parkland shooting was imminent.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, refused to take responsibility for failing to confront gunman Nikolas Cruz as he shot dead 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida in February of 2018.

Three Broward County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene but were standing outside the school.
