House Freedom Caucus Calls on GOP Leadership to Include Border Wall Funding in Upcoming Spending Bill

The House Freedom Caucus released a statement on Monday calling for Republican leadership to include at least $5 billion for construction of the Trump border wall.

The conservative lawmakers said this is “our last chance” to address illegal immigration before Democrats take over from Paul Ryan.

The House Freedom Caucus took an official position tonight calling for Republican leadership to include $5 billion in funding for President Trump’s border wall and also for fixes to “catch and release” loopholes.

The group released the following statement:

“This is our last chance to address illegal immigration before Democrats take over the House. Republicans in Congress must fulfill our promise to the American people by building President Trump’s wall, ending catch and release, and securing our borders.”

Mission statement of the House Freedom Caucus:

“The House Freedom Caucus gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans.”
