Hah! Islamists Post Threat to Behead Trump — Are Outraged When They Find Out Faulty App Translated Quote to “Kiss and Hug” Trump

Ashraf Al Safoo was arrested in October for pledging allegiance to the Islamic State and sharing photos of bombing materials on his phone.

Ashraf and his Islamist buddies became the butt of jokes after their threat to “behead” President Trump was incorrectly translated to “hug and kiss” the 45th President.

The AP reported, via Religion of Peace:

A judge says a Chicago computer-science specialist accused of running online propaganda campaigns for Islamic State poses a threat and so must stay jailed until trial.

At a Wednesday hearing in Chicago, the federal judge cited photos arresting agents allegedly found on Ashraf Al Safoo‘s phone this month showing bomb-making components…

…The propaganda allegedly included video showing a Christmas gift containing a ticking time-bomb.

The complaint also describes the propagandists’ annoyance at becoming the butt of jokes after a text meant to warn about “beheading (President Donald) Trump” actually warned about “kissing and hugging” Trump. An app used to translate the Arabic apparently led to the error.

More from the Chicago Tribune:

Authorities said the foundation ran like a well-oiled public relations firm, with writers, editors, tech advisers and audiovisual producers all pushing a central message of fear, violence and death.

When mistakes were made, employees were reprimanded, the complaint said. Last December, an editor sent out an officewide note about an embarrassing gaffe on a design featuring President Donald Trump that a member had mistranslated from Arabic using a Google app.

“Instead of writing ‘beheading’ Trump, he wrote ‘kissing and hugging’ Trump,” the federal charges quoted the memo as saying. “The Americans started laughing at the Islamic State. The image has circulated and it became a joke.”
