BREAKING: President Trump Sends Written Answers to Robert Mueller

President Trump submitted written responses to Robert Mueller’s questions Tuesday, according to his personal attorney Jay Sekulow.

The Hill reported:

Trump’s personal lawyer Jay Sekulow said the answers were submitted on Tuesday and cover “issues regarding the Russia-related topics of the inquiry.”

Rudy Giuliani, another Trump lawyer, has repeatedly expressed fear that the president could walk into a perjury trap if he answers Mueller’s questions about the firing of James Comey as FBI director and what he told the ex-lawman about the bureau’s investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“It has been our position from the outset that much of what has been asked raised serious constitutional issues and was beyond the scope of a legitimate inquiry,” Giuliani said. “This remains our position today.”

The former New York City mayor said Trump has “nonetheless provided unprecedented cooperation” to Mueller’s office, including more than 30 witnesses and 1.4 million pages of material.

“It is time to bring this inquiry to a conclusion,” he said.

The President’s written responses to Mueller will reportedly be about alleged ‘Russian collusion,’ not ‘obstruction of justice.’

Mueller is also seeking to question President Trump on so-called ‘obstruction of justice’ however, Mueller and his investigators understood that issues of executive privilege could complicate their pursuit of a presidential interview and did not ask for written responses on that matter, The New York Times previously said.

President Trump’s lawyers have sparred with Mueller’s team for several months over how the President will answer questions, or if he will sit down for an interview with Mueller.

Jay Sekulow previously said he’s prepared to take Mueller all the way up to the Supreme Court if he were to issue a presidential subpoena.

The president has repeatedly attacked Robert Mueller, calling out his team of ‘angry Democrats’ for their witch hunt.
