Fusion GPS Co-Founder Glenn Simpson Pleads the 5th on Capitol Hill – GOP Lawmakers May Hold Him in Contempt

On Tuesday, Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson pleaded the 5th Amendment on Capitol Hill in order to avoid answering Congressional questions about his meetings with twice-demoted DOJ official Bruce Ohr and the Russia dossier.

Glenn Simpson may be held in contempt for refusing to testify.

According to a reporter for The Hill, Olivia Beavers, Rep. Mark Meadows said the panel will be having discussions in the “coming days” on whether they will move to hold Simpson in contempt for refusing to testify.

“You cannot just invoke the Fifth to avoid answering congressional questions,” Congressman Mark Meadows told reporters.

FOX News’ Catherine Herridge confronted Glenn Simpson as he walked into his interview with lawmakers.

Simpson ignored Catherine Herridge’s questions.

GOP lawmakers were seeking more testimony from Glenn Simpson to iron things out after Bruce Ohr gave a conflicted testimony to Congress in August.

Attorneys for Glenn Simpson told House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte last Thursday that their client will “invoke his constitutional rights not to testify,” defying a subpoena seeking to compel him to give a closed-door testimony.

Simpson’s lawyers argued the House Oversight and House Judiciary Committees are not seeking the truth, rather they are trying to “discredit and otherwise damage witnesses to Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.”

On Tuesday, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) slammed Glenn Simpson for taking the 5th.
