Report: Daily Caller Confirms Kavanaugh Protesters Given Soros Cash for Arrests; Planning ‘Ugly, Ugly’ Protests to ‘Shut Down’ Monday Hearing

The Daily Caller posted an exclusive report Tuesday on a conference call with anti-Kavanaugh protest groups in which the Soros funded groups spoke about giving cash on the spot to protesters to pay their fines for being arrested for disrupting Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee this month. Over 200 protesters were arrested during the four days of hearings.

The report confirms previous eyewitness accounts of protesters being given cash outside the hearings. (Previous TGP report at this link.)

The payments were first reported by Adam Schindler.

The groups plan to “get very ugly, ugly” and “shut down” a scheduled hearing on Monday that Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a drunken high school party decades ago. Ford has not confirmed whether she will attend the hearing.

Excerpt from the Daily Caller exclusive reported by Peter Hasson and Joe Simonson:

Left-wing groups funded by George Soros and other major Democratic donors hand out cash to protesters arrested for disrupting Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, the activists revealed Monday night.

A coalition of activist organizations including Women’s March, the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD) and Housing Works have scheduled the near-constant disruptions at the Kavanaugh hearings as part of an organized effort to derail the confirmation process in a series of meetings since he was first nominated.

The cash from the donor-funded groups goes toward the protesters’ post-and-forfeit payments — a small cash sum paid to resolve low-level misdemeanor crimes and avoid jail time.

…Because Kavanaugh no longer has a hearing on Thursday, the protesters are instead going to target a confirmation hearing for lower court nominees, who Davis described as “other gross judges” who are even more radical.

The activists plan to “shut down” Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings on Monday, Davis said. “Just because they’ve delayed something doesn’t mean we’re done. It’s actually going to get very very ugly.”

Disrupting the hearings were constantly described throughout the call as acts of “civil disobedience” by organizers.

The three organizers, who took turns speaking throughout the call, explained that protesters should expect to pay up to $50 per arrest at Thursday and Monday’s hearings.

The activists said they will have cash ready for would-be disrupters on Thursday and Monday, as they did when disrupting the previous hearings.”…

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) told Hugh Hewitt in an interview Tuesday morning he planned to allow the protesters to disrupt the hearing on Monday, but that Capitol Police would be making arrests as they did before.

HH: Yes, you do. And in fact, even when the protesters jump…do you expect more protesters if Judge Kavanaugh shows up on Monday if he is testifying? Do you expect we’ll have a repeat of last week?

CG: Yes, and that’s their Constitutional right to do it. They don’t have, they have a Constitutional right to speak. They don’t have a Constitutional right to interfere with the committee, so that’s why the police take them out. So I think that I, as far as the demonstrators are concerned, I’m going to be laser-focused on an even-handed and a fair hearing. And so I’ll keep the hearing going while the police take them out. I tell the police, you do your job, I’m not going to do like a lot of chairmen do, shut down the whole committee meeting until the room is empty. I want to use the time as efficiently as I can.”
