John Brennan Claims He Was Only Aware of Russia Dossier Because it Was in Media Reports

Where have we heard this before?

Former CIA Director John Brennan claims he only became aware of Hillary’s phony Russia dossier in December of 2016 because it was in the news.

Late Summer of 2016, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) wrote a letter to James Comey asking him to investigate allegations Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia just days after meeting with John Brennan.

This meeting Brennan had with Harry Reid in the summer of 2016 has many Congressional investigators speculating the former CIA Director briefed Senator Reid on Hillary’s dossier.

The letter Harry Reid wrote to former FBI Director Comey was then leaked to the New York Times several days later.

Harry Reid then sent Comey an open letter in October to give the FBI Director some urgency.

Excerpt from Reid’s letter to Comey:

“In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it  has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government – a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity,” he said. “I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public…and yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information.”

Just a coincidence, right?

Sara Carter reported:

In a recent interview with SaraACarter.com Brennan’s former Chief of Staff, Nick Shapiro, said Brennan had briefed Reid as part of the ‘Gang of Eight’ briefings on Russia’s interference in the election. Reid asked Brennan if he could include some of the assessment the ‘Gang of Eight’ was briefed on in the letter he was preparing to send to Comey. According to Shapiro, Brennan declined saying, he could not authorize sharing the information on Russian election meddling.

Reid was not available for comment.

Shapiro told SaraACarter.com that Brennan did not know about the contents of the dossier until December, 2016 and only briefed the Gang of Eight on the Intelligence Community assessment of Russian interference in the election.

“He had heard it existed but hadn’t seen the contents, hadn’t been briefed on it, knew nothing about it until December 2016, again, it wasn’t a CIA document,” Shapiro said. “He only even knew it existed because he heard members of the media bring it up.”

Shapiro referred to previous testimony offered by Comey and said, “Comey has said publicly that he wanted to make sure President Obama and Trump knew about the dossier. Comey decided to attach it to the IC (Intelligence Community) assessment. There was even talk of including it as part of the IC assessment but Brennan (and Clapper) in fact were the ones who didn’t allow the dossier to be part of the it, and they didn’t allow that because they said the information wasn’t verified intelligence and that wasn’t what the IC assessment was about.”

John Brennan perjured himself in a May 2017 testimony to the House Intel Committee wherein he testified he didn’t know Hillary Clinton’s campaign paid for the dossier. Brennan also said the CIA didn’t rely on the dossier in any way for its reports on Russian meddling.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper contradicted Brennan when he admitted parts of the dossier that were used in the ICA report were “corroborated” by independent “sources and methods” that cannot be revealed and are tucked away in the footnotes of the classified version of the report, investigate journalist Paul Sperry previously reported.

The IC assessment report curiously echoes the dossier with claims that “Vladimir Putin ordered” Hillary Clinton’s campaign emails hacked and leaked “to help Trump’s chances of victory.”

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch filed a FOIA lawsuit against the CIA in June of 2018 for records of communications with Harry Reid and his staff regarding the Hillary-funded dossier.

“Obama CIA Director John Brennan’s unhinged attacks on President Trump help explain the Obama administration spying abuses targeting Trump. The mere fact that we had to file this lawsuit shows the CIA has something to hide on Obama-era abuses and collusion with Democrats in Congress to target then-candidate Trump,” President of Judicial Watch Tom Fitton previously said.

It is unclear when exactly Brennan knew Christopher Steele began compiling the dossier, but his claims that he became aware of it because of media reports are utterly absurd.
