Horrible! Conservative Woman Falsely Accused of Calling Kid a ‘Dirty Mexican’ – Joy Reid Leads Twitter Mob in False Allegations

Rosalyn La Liberte has had her life turned upside down and her business threatened by the tweet and retweet of a falsely captioned photo showing her engaging in a “spirited discussion” with 14-year-old Joseph Luevanos at a Simi Valley City Council meeting. The meeting was on California’s sanctuary policies for illegal aliens. La Liberte was falsely accused of calling the boy a “dirty Mexican” and saying he would be among “the first deported”. As a result she is getting threatening calls and messages and has lost at least one customer in the few days since she was “put on blast” by a teen activist and MSNBC’s Joy Reid.

The photo was posted, uncredited, to Twitter on June 28 by Alan Vargas, a 17-year-old March for Our Lives activist from Corona, California, who wrote the false caption, “” You are going to be the first deported” ” dirty Mexican ” Were some of the things they yelled they yelled at this 14 year old boy. He was defending immigrants at a rally and was shouted down. Spread this far and wide this woman needs to be put on blast.”

In two days the tweet had garnered over 58,000 retweets, over 61,000 likes and over 4,400 comments. Vargas noted Friday afternoon he was retweeted by MSNBC host Joy Reid.

The original photo with caption by Joe Lumaya, Ventura County Star, dated June 25, only described a “spirited discussion” between the two. The Star’s report on the meeting can be read at this link.

The Twitter mob unleashed by Vargas and Reid found out the woman’s name and that she owned a business. They also posted the boy’s name.

La Liberte was doxxed within an hour in a tweet that got a over 10,000 combined likes and retweets: “This horrible woman is Roslyn La Liberte. She yelled at this 14 yr old boy at a Simi Valley City Council mtg who was there to talk about immigration & supporting SB54. This MAGA zealot racist runs RC Design Construction in Woodland Hills. BOYCOTT RC DESIGN http://www.rcassociatesinc.com/#!about-us”

Within two hours she was doxxed and memed with a combined over 4000 likes and retweets:

There was just one problem: The boy and the woman both say their conversation was civil.

Fox 11 in Los Angeles spoke to both of them about the photo for a report published Friday night.

A photo taken by the Ventura County Star that’s been making the social media rounds has become twisted as it churns its way through the internet. Activists have been spinning it in different directions. Some have even alerted companies doing business with Rosalyn La Liberte’s contracting company that they should boycott her firm. In the photo she LOOKS like she’s verbally attacking a 14-year old boy. Now, the two people in the photo are speaking out!

La Liberte tells FOX 11 News, “I’m not an evil person. I’m a mother of five… a Grandma of four.”

But, in a tweeted-photo that’s raced through social media like a wildfire that’s exactly how it looks. Looks can be deceiving. La Liberte doesn’t live in Simi Valley but went to this past week’s city council meeting because she says she’s passionate about the Federal Government’s fight against California’s sanctuary state status.

14-year old Joseph Luevanos was there to take the other side.

During a recess in the meeting the teenager says he started a conversation with the woman to try and understand her feelings, “but, I felt like she was still trying to keep it civil which I appreciate .”

Both he and his mom say there were rude people saying ugly things like the teen would be the first to be deported. For the record, he was born and raised in this part of Southern California and he didn’t like that. But, he says, what you see in the photo isn’t a confrontation but a conversation

La Liberte says, I never said anything disparaging. I never did.”
