FLASHBACK=> Trump in 2011: “I Would Call OPEC” – to Counter Soaring Gas Prices (VIDEO)

President Trump stared down the Saudi King this weekend and told him to increase oil production because prices are too high.

The Saudi King assured President Trump they had the capacity to meet his demand of 2,000,000 more barrels of oil.

Trump tweeted on Saturday: Just spoke to King Salman of Saudi Arabia and explained to him that, because of the turmoil & disfunction in Iran and Venezuela, I am asking that Saudi Arabia increase oil production, maybe up to 2,000,000 barrels, to make up the difference…Prices to high! He has agreed!

Back in 2011, when Americans were feeling the pain at the pump, then-business man Donald Trump criticized Obama for not knowing how to handle the rise in crude oil prices.

Donald Trump said back in 2011, it’s all about the “right messenger” and Obama is not the right messenger.

Via Politico in 2011:

Donald Trump says that the “right messenger” could tell OPEC to lower crude oil prices, insisting that prices “will go down if you say it properly.”

Trump, the billionaire real estate mogul who is considering a 2012 GOP presidential run, added that he would have gone into Libya and “I would take the oil.”

“We don’t use our brainpower,” Trump said in an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We need one thing: brainpower.”

Asked on by CNN host Candy Crowley what his idea would be to get OPEC to lower crude oil prices, Trump said: “It’s the messenger.”

“I can send two executives into a room. They can say the same things; one guy comes home with the bacon and the other guy doesn’t,” Trump said. “I’ve seen it a thousand times. … We don’t have the right messenger. [President Barack] Obama is not the right messenger. We are not a respected nation anymore and the world is laughing at us.”

Donald Trump also sat down with George Stephanopoulos is 2011 and slammed Obama for doing nothing about OPEC.

“We don’t have anybody in Washington that calls OPEC and says fellas it’s time, it’s over, you’re not gonna do it anymore.

When asked by Stephanopoulos what he would do about OPEC if he were president, Trump said, “I would look em in the eye and say, ‘fellas you’ve had your fun, your fun is over.’

Trump also told Bill O’Reilly back in 2011, “We have to do something about OPEC,” and slammed Obama and Bush for not calling OPEC. “The messenger is the key,” Trump continued.

And that is exactly what Trump did. He called the Saudi King over the weekend and told them prices are too high; it’s time to increase production of oil.
