Senate Democrats Escalate Battle to Stall Kavanaugh Confirmation
Senate Democrats are escalating their battle to delay Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
The Dems are requesting a long paper trail of Kavanaugh’s work going back to the Bush Administration.
On Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) even taunted Republican Senators pushing back on the ridiculous requests, asking, “What are they hiding?”
Senate Republicans argue that Schumer and other Dems have already decided they are going to oppose Kavanaugh so this is just another stall tactic.
The Hill reported:
“The Senate must have the records spanning Judge Kavanaugh’s career as a public servant, including his time as staff secretary for the Bush administration,” Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee separately sent a letter to the National Archives requesting all paperwork from Kavanaugh’s time working in the Bush White House.
“We ask that you provide documents to the Senate Judiciary Committee in connection with President Trump’s nomination of Brett M. Kavanaugh to be associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States,” the Democratic senators wrote.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, led by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), are requesting documents tied to Kavanaugh’s work as both a White House lawyer and staff secretary, including any emails sent and received by Kavanaugh.
Brett Kavanaugh already returned a 110-page questionnaire along with thousands of pages of documents to the Senate Judiciary Committee a week and a half ago.
Kavanaugh previously served 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit which means he is vetted, however, the Democrats are still trying to delay his confirmation using several different strategies.
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) previously asked Trump’s SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, to recuse himself from any cases related to Mueller’s Special Counsel witch hunt.
Last week, it was reported Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other Dems were also stalling their meetings with Kavanaugh in an effort to delay his confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Also, in an unusual request, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asked federal prosecutors to help review documents of Kavanaugh.
Dirty Rosenstein and the Democrats know President Trump can take Mueller all the way up to the Supreme Court so they are doing everything they can to delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation to prevent Trump from cementing a conservative majority which would ultimately squash the Russia witch hunt.
