Chuck Schumer Warns President Trump: Don’t Fire Mueller

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) posted a statement to Twitter Monday evening warning President Donald Trump to not use Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s raid on Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen as an excuse to fire Mueller.

Sen. Chuck Schumer at an anti-Trump rally in New York City, February 4, 2017 where he led the crowd in cheers of “Dump Trump!” just two weeks after Trump’s inauguration.

Schumer posted his warning to Trump in a three part Twitter statement.

“If @realDonaldTrump is thinking of using the FBI raid to fire Special Counsel Mueller or otherwise interfere with the chain of command in the Russia probe, we Democrats have one simple message for him: don’t.”

“Mueller, a Republican, has uncovered a deep & detailed pattern of Russian interference in our elections that led to indictments & guilty pleas. It also led to the Trump admin itself leveling sanctions against Russian individuals, proof that it’s not a so-called ‘witch-hunt.’”

“The investigation is critical to the health of our democracy, and must be allowed to continue.”

Earlier on Monday reports broke of Mueller’s seizure of attorney-client privileged documents from Cohen.
