Russian Billionaire: Fusion GPS Funded By George Soros & Mystery Silicon Valley Elites
Does Fusion GPS receive funding from progressive billionaire George Soros and secretive Silicon Valley elites? One of Russia’s richest men says the answer is ‘yes.’
In a Daily Caller op-ed calling the Russian meddling narrative a “false public manipulation,” Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska claims that Daniel Jones – a former FBI investigator, Feinstein staffer and now a Fusion GPS operative – told the Russian Oligarch’s lawyer in March, 2017 that Fusion GPS was funded by “a group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.“
Deripaska describes the ongoing “Russia narrative” as nothing more than a scandal manufactured by the deep state. “Wagging the dog costs money,” writes Deripaska. “So, who is the “funding mechanism” of this “shadowy government?”” Why, none other than billionaire financier George Soros, according to Daniel Jones – as relayed to Congressional investigators by Deripaska’s attorney Adam Waldman:[O]n March 16, 2017, Daniel Jones — himself a team member of Fusion GPS, self-described former FBI agent and, as we now know from the media, an ex-Feinstein staffer — met with my lawyer, Adam Waldman, and described Fusion as a “shadow media organization helping the government,” funded by a “group of Silicon Valley billionaires and George Soros.” My lawyer testified these facts to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Nov. 3.
As Jim Hoft of The Gateway Pundit previously reported, The Washington Free Beacon, funded by Wall Street billionaire Paul Singer, hired Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on a host of 2016 presidential candidates.
The Washington Examiner reported:
The Free Beacon funded the project from the fall of 2015 through the spring of 2016, whereupon it withdrew funding and the project was picked up by the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign.
The original arrangement between the Free Beacon and Fusion GPS involved opposition research into multiple Republican candidates, not just front-runner Donald Trump.
“Sources close to the Free Beacon stress that the project, when the Free Beacon funded it, had nothing to do with Russia and did not involve Christopher Steele, the former British spy who gathered anti-Trump dirt in Russia,” reported Byron York of the Washington Examiner.
Veteran political operative Roger Stone went a step further, claiming Singer is the GOP donor who originally funded the discredited ‘Trump Dossier’

Representatives for Singer, a major GOP donor, denied in 2014 that the billionaire had hired Fusion GPS, the company that produced the dossier, to investigate the Argentine government. However, Singer’s team refused to confirm or deny this year whether the hedge fund tycoon had worked on the Trump dossier.
Stone’s latest report and the allegations of former ties to Fusion GPS call into question Singer’s involvement in research intended to bring down Trump.
During the 2016 presidential election, Singer was a staunch #NeverTrumper, but eventually warmed to President Trump. After Trump won the White House, Singer attended a fundraiser for the President-elect last December at the New York City hotspot Cipriani and personally donated $1 million to his Inauguration Committee.
