Comedian Kathy Griffin, who famously wrecked her career last year by posing for a photograph of her holding a mock beheaded President Donald Trump, announced on Friday that she has been invited to attend this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner as the guest of two LGBT newspapers, The Washington Blade and Los Angeles Blade. The dinner will be held on April 28 in Washington, D.C., and will feature comedian Michelle Wolf as the headline act.
Trump boycotted last year’s WHCA Dinner which is traditionally attended by the president. There is no word yet on whether he will attend this year’s dinner.
Griffin wrote on Twitter, “Honored that I’ll be attending the White House Correspondents Dinner for the first time this year. I’ll be the guest of the great team at the @WashBlade @losangelesblade!”

Griffin is attempting a comeback, having sold out a show at Carnegie Hall in ultra-liberal New York City as part of a 2018 tour.
