The Oregon State University College Republicans are gearing up for their annual 2nd Amendment Week, where they host events featuring guest speakers, film showings, free CHL class for students, and other 2A related things. Part of the tradition is to hold a drawing for a variety of firearms related things, which usually includes an AR-15, sometimes a pistol, and often a few other accessories.
The “Women’s Caucus Of The Democratic Party Of Oregon” has taken to facebook to protest the event and they are calling on people to complain to the college’s president to try to get the festivities shut down:
GOT KIDS AT OREGON STATE? OSU Alum? Corvallis resident? Concerned citizen?
Please let the administration know that you don’t think it’s okay for them to promote the NRA and raffle off an AR-15 to college students. Yes, this is really happening!

Every year the OSU College Republicans hold a 2nd Amendment week at the beginning of April. I believe the 2018 2A week is scheduled to start April 1. During this week they raffle off guns, distributing raffle tickets from a table on the quad, and hold various events supporting their view of the 2nd Amendment. Last year they gave away free NRA memberships and raffled off an AR-15, the weapon of choice for mass shootings. You can read about the 2017 2A week below.
Completely unacceptable. Let’s flood them with emails.
The ensuing comments range from hysterics to a total backfire, as many expressed interest in purchasing tickets:
It should be noted that Sarah Finger McDonald is the former head of the Oregon chapter of Bloomberg’s “Moms Demand Action”.
The College Republicans released the following statement:
It has come to our attention that there is a small group of people that don’t want us to continue with our firearm drawing as scheduled this coming spring. We want to take this time to reassure our supporters that we will have our fundraiser in April, just as we have the past 12 years on campus.
With that being said, please refrain from buying tickets from the link below, as it is the fundraiser from last year. Stay tuned in with our page and we will have information for the coming Second Amendment Week soon. If you have already purchased tickets and you wish to be refunded send us an email at [email protected] Otherwise, your purchases will be transferred to our fundraiser this coming April.
We really appreciate all of this support, and we look forward to seeing you all at our firearm safety and education programs in April!
The hysterics from the anti-gunners continued in the thread on the College Republicans page:
Portland based radio personality Lars Larson makes a yearly trek to OSU and broadcasts live from campus during 2nd Amendment Week.
