John Conyers Announces His Retirement: Endorses Son to Take Seat But Nephew Already Announced Run

Rep. John Conyers  announced his immediate retirement Tuesday and endorsed his son John Conyers III to take his seat in Congress.

Conyers made his announcement on a local radio station, making his decision two weeks after sexual harassment allegations surfaced and after discussing his political future with family and advisers.

Although Conyers has steadfastly denied all of the allegations, he stepped down from as ranking member from the House Judiciary Committee and rumor broke that he wouldn’t seek re-election in 2018.

Last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called for Conyers’ resignation just days after calling him an “icon”. House Speaker Ryan also called for Conyers’ resignation amid increasing accusations and outrage.

Conyers, after settling a sexual harassment settlement with $27K of taxpayer money, had no other choice but to resign after outrage and furor directed toward him reached a fever pitch instead of dying out.

After Conyers’ lurid and checkered history was exposed, it was only a matter of time before he was forced out of his spot in Congress. Having failed Michigan spectacularly – representing the crumbling Detroit and Islam-infested Dearborn Heights – his reputation is now disgraced and sullied; which, after the disgusting abuse Conyers perpetrated is probably too lenient of a punishment.

Drain the Swamp!

This ought to get interesting.
