MGM Resorts Hires Crisis Management Firm After Las Vegas Sheriff Holds Head-Scratching Press Conference
Amid the anger and confusion brought upon by an ever-changing timeline by the Las Vegas Police Department and FBI, MGM Resorts International has hired an elite crisis management firm. The move comes on the same day Sheriff Joe Lombardo claims there is little difference between police and Casino timelines. MGM Resorts International has said otherwise — twice.
Las Vegas Review-Journal reports:
At a news conference, a sometimes combative and at times emotional Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said MGM Resorts International had the correct timeline of events surrounding the Oct. 1 Strip attack.
“I’m not in conflict with their statement,” Lombardo confirmed, following a weeklong dispute over the timeline of events that occurred the night of the shooting.
The sheriff said Monday that Stephen Paddock shot Mandalay Baysecurity guard Jesus Campos at 9:59 p.m., about six minutes before the gunman turned his weapons on the Route 91 Harvest festival crowd below his hotel suite. He previously reported Campos was shot after the attack on the concert crowd.
Twice this week, MGM Resorts disputed Lombardo’s revised timeline. The company, which owns Mandalay Bay, released the following details Thursday:
In a Friday press conference, Sheriff Joe Lombardo fought back against claims that there is a conspiracy between the FBI, between LVMPD and the MGM,” to withhold information. Lombardo blasted reports that the Las Vegas police department and the FBI were operating in an incompetent manner.
“”There is no conspiracy between the FBI, between LVMPD & MGM — & nobody is attempting to hide anything referenced [in] this investigation,” reports ABC News.

Later in the press conference, the FBI told the press that massive amounts of evidence have been collected in the shooting probe.

Las Vegas Review-Journal reports:
MGM Resorts International has hired a leading crisis management firm following the Oct. 1 shooting at one of its properties.
The casino operator selected New York-based corporate communications firm Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher to assist in responding to inquires from media and investors regarding the investigation into the Mandalay Bay shooting.
Joele Frank has likely received an initial crisis fee in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and would bill MGM from $500 to $1,000 an hour ”for many, many hours,” said Ronn Torossian, chief executive officer of 5WPR, a renowned PR firm headquartered in New York.
“Joele Frank is a top notch leading crisis PR firm. They are one of a handful of agencies with the deep strategic communications skills necessary to communicate effectively for MGM to consumers, the industry and shareholders,” said Torossian.
This week, MGM Resorts International, the parent company of Mandalay Bay, is accusing Las Vegas investigators of pushing fake news about the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history.
Las Vegas Review Journal reports:
In a statement released late Tuesday, MGM Resorts International disputed Sheriff Joe Lombardo’s revised timeline of the Oct. 1 mass shooting on the Strip.“This remains an ongoing investigation with a lot of moving parts,” MGM Resorts spokesperson Debra DeShong said in the statement. “As evidenced by law enforcement briefings over the past week, many facts are still unverified and continue to change as events are under review. We cannot be certain about the most recent timeline that has been communicated publically, (sic) and we believe what is currently being expressed may not be accurate.”Lombardo revised the timeline during a news conference Monday. He said police had learned that security guard Jesus Campos was shot in the hallway before at least 58 people at the Route 91 Harvest festival were killed and nearly 500 were injured. Police previously said Campos was shot after the attack on the concert crowd.
The investigation into the events and the motive behind the Las Vegas shooting last Sunday night is in flux. To date no motive is provided by the FBI and local police.
Last week a press conference was held jointly by the FBI and the local Sheriff in Las Vegas concerning the recent murder of at least 59 people in that city. The Sheriff appeared transparent in the information he supplied. But the major question that everyone wanted to know was – why did the killer do it? What was his motive?
Monday we found out that the killer shot the security guard before he fired on the crowd of people. This directly contradicts with the earlier report that the security guard found the room of the killer and stopped him from shooting on the crowd. As a result many more questions are raised like – Why the change in story? Why did the killer ever stop shooting on the crowd if the security guard did not stop him?
The FBI’s lack of transparency along with the corrupt and criminal acts by former FBI Directors lead all of America to begin forming conspiracy theories and to further lose trust in the FBI.
