KETV reported:
Robert Simet is in federal custody Friday after he allegedly made threatening comments toward U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, of Iowa. The 64-year-old appeared in court Friday afternoon after the FBI arrested him at his Omaha home.
Simet is being held at the Pottawattamie County Jail, but according to court documents, the threats happened in Mills County at a Harley-Davidson dealership.
Angie Paulson is the office manager at Loess Hills Harley-Davidson. She says Simet was in her store Wednesday morning when he started talking to employees.
“Uneasy comments, threats of killing Sen. Joni Ernst, and they were a little shook up by it,” Paulsen said.
Paulsen said she came to learn Simet also made similar comments to other employees.
“I’m just proud of them for saying something,” Paulsen said.
The alleged threats were not only serious, but timely, as the dealership is hosting an event Saturday in which Sen. Ernst is participating.
