Oregon – Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Hillsboro Airport on Monday. A masked man tried to steal a helicopter before gunshots were heard.

The masked suspect reportedly made it across the street from the airport to a field where police confirmed that he was shot and killed by police.

Emergency responders have blocked off the scene near Northeast Cornell Road at Brookwood Parkway; no immediate word on whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Employees at the airport told KATU News that someone tried to steal a helicopter at the airfield shortly before they heard gunshots.

Witnesses also tell our reporters that police followed a man in a mask and hoodie as he ran south toward the Washington County Fair Complex and Hillsboro Airport MAX Station.

Additional reporting by Kellee Azar of KATU News reveals that the suspect was shot and killed by police and no police officers were injured.
