2020 Watch: Dems’ ‘Rising Star’ Sen. Kamala Harris Meeting With Hillary Clinton’s Inner Circle in The Hamptons
Since being elected to the Senate, pundits have been pushing the prospect of Democrat Kamala Harris running for president against President Trump. Harris is making a name for herself on Capitol Hill as one of the Trump administration’s most vocal critics.
Over the weekend, Harris met with Hillary Clinton’s “inner circle” in the Hamptons.
According to the New York Post:
The Democrats’ “Great Freshman Hope,” Sen. Kamala Harris, is heading to the Hamptons to meet with Hillary Clinton’s biggest backers.
The California senator is being fêted in Bridgehampton on Saturday at the home of MWWPR guru Michael Kempner, a staunch Clinton supporter who was one of her national-finance co-chairs and a led fund-raiser for her 2008 bid for the presidency. He was also listed as one of the top “bundlers” for Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, having raised $3 million.
Guests there to greet Harris are expected to include Margo Alexander, a member of Clinton’s inner circle; Dennis Mehiel, a Democratic donor who is the chairman of the Battery Park City Authority, even though he lives between a sprawling Westchester estate and an Upper East Side pad; designer Steven Gambrel and Democratic National Committee member Robert Zimmerman.
Washington lobbyist Liz Robbins is also hosting a separate Hamptons lunch for Harris.
Harris, a 52-year-old former prosecutor and San Francisco district attorney who went on to become California’s attorney general, was a star of the Senate intelligence committee hearing into President Trump’s ties to Russia, grilling US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Harris has also opposed 18 of Trump’s 22 administration nominees.
Plus, in 2013, former President Obama had to apologize after telling a group that, in addition to being “brilliant,” “dedicated” and “tough,” Harris “also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general in the country.”
Recently, Harris made waves with her aggressive questioning-style towards Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The MSM accused Sessions of interrupting Harris. The video below shows Sessions doing nothing of the sort, rather Harris wouldn’t allow Sessions to complete his answers. Leave it to the mainstream media to twist even the most obvious events and link them with identity politics.
Per the National Review:
Harris has the good fortune to sit on the Senate Intelligence Committee, where she has taken advantage of the opportunities for political grandstanding offered by the recent testimonies of various current and former government officials relevant to the investigation into ties between Russia and President Trump. After only months in the Senate, Harris has emerged as a star, winning her place in the national spotlight through a mixture of toughness and victimhood.
Her recent fame stems from her prosecutorial inquisition of Attorney General Jeff Sessions during his testimony before the committee earlier this week. Judging by the mainstream news outlets, the main story from the hearing is that her male colleagues on the committee, and the witness himself, committed against Harris an inexcusable sin: They interrupted her. The New York Times has run at least two stories on the alleged transgression; one, “The Universal Phenomenon of Men Interrupting Women,” sees in Harris’s treatment an allegory for a broader female experience, one also seen in recent days in the boardroom of Uber. Stories of similar sorts – singing Harris’ praises and tut-tutting at the Republicans of the committee – have blanketed the media, from the Washington Post to CNN to Samantha Bee.
