Trump: I’m Being Investigated For Firing the FBI Director by the Man Who Told Me to Fire Him “Witch Hunt”

President Trump announced Friday morning that he is being investigated for firing former FBI Director James Comey by the man who told him to fire him–Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein.

TGP recently reported on the Washington Post story that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating President Donald Trump for obstruction of justice. The Post noted that Mueller was actually picking up an investigation into Trump that was started after he fired FBI Director James Comey on May 9.

POTUS Trump tweeted, “I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt

Fox News reports:

A source confirmed to Fox News that Trump’s tweet was referring to Rosenstein. However, a seperate source close to Trump’s legal team said the president was NOT confirming he was under investigation. He was simply referring to the content of a recent Washington Post story.

Rosenstein’s May memo critical of ex-FBI Director James Comey’s performance was among the reasons cited by Trump and others in Comey’s firing. Soon after Comey’s ouster, Rosenstein — who had been Comey’s direct superior at the Justice Department — appointed Mueller, a former FBI director himself and a friend of Comey’s, to lead a wide-ranging probe, ostensibly focused on Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election but also encompassing a host of allegations made against Trump and his associates.

President Trump also tweeted, ‘After 7 months of investigation and committee hearing about my “collusion with the Russians,” nobody has been able to show any proof. Sad!’

President of Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton reacted to President Trump’s tweet this morning, ‘Rosenstein has no control over the special counsel, which makes the position unconstitutional.’
