House Intel Committee Asks For Trump’s ‘Comey Tapes’

Members of the House Intelligence Committee are asking for any recordings Trump may have of his conversations with fired FBI Director James Comey.

President Trump has not confirmed if he has these so-called ‘tapes’ that he tweeted about on May 12th. If so, he must hand them over to the committee by June 23rd.

Members of the House Intelligence Committee are asking the White House to hand over any tapes that may exist of President Donald Trump’s conversations with former FBI Director James Comey.

Rep. Mike Conway (R-Texas) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the two lawmakers leading the investigation into possible ties between Trump campaign officials and Russians, asked White House counsel Don McGahn on Friday to confirm whether the tapes exist, and if so, to produce them for the committee by June 23, Politico reported.

Earlier today, President Trump coyly responded to a reporter who said to him, “You seem to be hinting that there are recordings of those conversations.” Trump said, “I’m not hinting at anything. I’ll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future.”

When another reporter shouted, “Do you have tapes, sir?” Trump left them hanging again by saying, “Oh you’re going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don’t worry.”
