The White House Honors Wounded American Heroes
Vice-President showed complete humility and class on Superbowl Sunday by bringing two soldiers who had been wounded in the fight against terrorism to the Superbowl as his guests.
USA Today reports that when Marine Staff Sgt. Tony Mannino and Army Staff Sgt. Frederick Manning received phone calls inviting them to the game with the Vice President they both thought it was a joke at first.
From USA Today:
Mannino, who was injured in Iraq, and Manning, who was injured in Afghanistan, were waiting in front of Air Force II Sunday afternoon when Pence walked off the Marine II helicopter with his wife, Karen, and daughter Charlotte…
…The service members had been chosen by the Defense Department for the trip. It helped that Mannino is a Patriots fan and Manning is rooting for the Falcons…
…Manning, 50, brought Army Sgt. First Class Charles Stanley, a nurse at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center who has been one of his caregivers.
Mannino, 33, brought his wife, Diane.
Headed back to DC on Air Force Two with our 🇺🇸 heroes. Incredible comeback. One of the best Super Bowls ever. Congratulations to @Patriots.
