Breaking: Active Shooter Reported at Ohio State University – Several Injured – Reports of Machete Attack

UPDATE: PHOTO OF DOWNED SUSPECT ADDED TO END OF ARTICLE: An active shooter was reported at Watts Hall at Ohio State University by university police and emergency management.

The campus newspaper The Lantern posted a photo of a “body bag” outside Koffolt Labs and also reported a possible second shooter.

“There’s at least one body bag present in front of Koffolt Labs. OSU police still advising to take shelter. Situation not under control.”


“Police have people on the scene there is a potential second assailant still at large at this time. Continue to seek shelter.”

“Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College.”

“Buckeye Alert: Continue to shelter in place. Avoid area of College. More information to follow.”

“Buckeye Alert: Continue to shelter in place in north campus area. Follow directions of Police on scene.”

OSU Police posted the same messages.

A student Periscoped first responders on the scene. He said he was next door to Watts Hall and did not hear any gunshots. His first notice of the incident was a university emergency message. The student was not aware of any victims nor did he report seeing or hearing a gunman.

The student noted the presence of national news media icluding CNN and NBC at the scene.

Local media is on site also.
