Media Protects Vacationing Obama From Further Trump Humiliation By Not Reporting He Attended Fireworks Friday Night

We all know how the media works: When they want to hurt someone they take every faux pas, every slip of the tongue or failure to act to the media’s standards and drive a story line that wrecks that person’s standing with the public (See: Media vs. Donald Trump.)

When the media wants to protect someone, they just fail to report news that would show their favored person in an unfavorable light.

Case in point President Barack Obama attending the annual Oak Bluffs fireworks Friday night after being humiliated by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump who showed up the vacationing Obama by visiting flood-ravaged Louisiana earlier that day and donating a tractor trailer’s worth of relief supplies.

The is no AP article on Obama attending the fireworks. A Google News search shows only a Bloomberg article published Friday that mentions Obama attending the fireworks.

President Barack Obama will visit Baton Rouge next week, the White House said on Friday, following criticism that he had stuck to his vacation schedule even as unexpectedly severe floods ravaged parts of Louisiana.

The president discussed the flooding on Friday morning with Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, who visited the affected region the day before, the White House said in an e-mailed statement announcing the Aug. 23 trip. The announcement came hours after Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made a high-profile visit of his own to survey flood damage on Friday.

The flooding in Louisiana was caused by one of the most severe U.S. storms in recent years, damaging an estimated 40,000 homes and leaving tens of thousands of people homeless.

Obama opted to stay on Martha’s Vineyard, an island off the coast of Massachusetts, for the second of two weeks of vacation with his family as he did two years ago, when riots erupted in Ferguson, Missouri, during his annual trip. He has kept up a schedule of golf, dinners out and beach time, leading to mounting criticism that he was ignoring a growing U.S. crisis. Obama usually attends the annual fireworks show scheduled for Friday night in Oak Bluffs, the Martha’s Vineyard town that for decades has been a summer playground of wealthy blacks.”

Reuters filed only a photo caption-not an article-that mentioned Obama attending the fireworks Friday.

Even on Twitter reporters failed to mention Obama attending the fireworks. Just a pathetic three tweeted:

“An annual tradition: Obama and his family are watching fireworks tonight at Valerie Jarrett’s vacation rental home in Oak Bluffs.”

“First Family in Oak Bluffs tonight to watch annual fireworks display from the vacation rental of @vj44. Others paying $10/parking to watch.”

It was the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard who provided the context reporters usually reserve for Republican presidents.

“Flood victims in La, fwiw, Obama is watching fireworks tonite at White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett’s vacation rental home. 🎉”
