On Wednesday morning the RNC announced that the Trump campaign will be working with the GOP on the upcoming convention.
The Cleveland News Leader reported:
Now that the top GOP official has declared him the party’s presumptive nominee, Donald Trump will play a central role in planning the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, according to a convention spokeswoman.
“The convention staff will begin working with the Trump campaign to bring them up to speed on the months of planning that’s been happening in Cleveland so we can unite and make the convention a success for the Republican Party and nominee,” Kirsten Kukowski, spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee’s convention-planning arm, said in a statement Wednesday morning.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus declared Trump the presumptive nominee on Tuesday night, shortly after Trump’s main rival, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, announced the suspension of his campaign. Cruz dropped out after Trump won the Indiana primary, capturing 53 percent of the state’s vote and at least 51 of the state’s 57 pledged delegates.
Paul Manafort will head up the planning.
