Rock legend David Bowie passed away this morning after an 18 month battle with cancer. He was 69.
The SUN reported:
DAVID Bowie has died just days after his 69th birthday following a courageous 18-month battle with cancer.
The music legend passed away surrounded by loved ones as stars from around the world paid tribute to Bowie.
Haunting lyrics on his final album – released only days before he died – appeared to show the pop icon may have known the album might have been his last.
One of his final songs, called Lazarus and the video for which showed Bowie in a hospital bed, contained the lyrics: “Look up here, I’m in heaven.”
Bowie’s producer Tony Visconti said the song was a “parting gift” from the legend.
The sad news of the music icon’s death was confirmed on his Facebook page this morning.
The post read: “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
“While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
