Army Veteran Robert Lovings Polk went missing earlier this month when he went to answer a Craig’s List ad.

The body of Robert Lovings Polk was found Thursday morning in a dumpster in North St. Louis.
Polk was shot in the head.

Polk’s death marks the 159th homicide in the city this year, matching the number for all of 2014.

FOX 2 Now reported:

Police are investigating after a body was found Thursday morning in north St. Louis. Robert Polk’s body was discovered around 7:30a.m. in an alley in the 8000 block of Frederick Street near Bittner.

Two men working for an asbestos abatement crew were clearing out drywall from the back of a home when they noticed a foul odor. They discovered the body underneath three pieces of drywall. He was suffering from a gunshot wound according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

A witness says the victim was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants that were pulled down, as if he had been dragged to the area. The hoodie was covering his face.

Robert Lovings Polk, 22, disappeared after he went to look at a used car he found on Craigslist on October 3.

Police have been monitoring Polk’s financial accounts. There appears to have been a transaction after his disappearance.
