Rapper Turned Columnist Claims Mike Huckabee Wants to BRING BACK SLAVERY
Luther Campbell used to be a member of the rap group 2 Live Crew. Now he’s a columnist for the Miami New Times and in his most recent article, claimed that Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee wants to bring back slavery.
This column is not only stupid, it insults the intelligence of the American people:
Mike Huckabee Wants to Bring Back Slavery
Mike Huckabee can’t climb past 5 percent in the polls for the Republican presidential nomination. So the former Arkansas governor, who moved to Florida like many other carpetbaggers, is getting insanely desperate. He went full Ku Klux Klan. Last week, he compared Kim Davis — the Kentucky court clerk whose refusal to issue marriage licenses to gay people landed her in jail — to Martin Luther King Jr.
Now Huckabee has declared that African-Americans are still slaves.
During an interview on a nationally syndicated show last week, Huckabee said the Supreme Court’s ruling in the 1857 Dred Scott case, which declared blacks did not have a right to be citizens, is “still the law of the land.”
Huckabee, who in 2010 moved to the Florida Panhandle and built himself a $3 million mansion, ignored the Constitution’s 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery, and the 14th Amendment, overturning the Dred Scott case by establishing birthright citizenship.
Bryan Ballas of NewsBusters explains how Campbell is twisting Huckabee’s words:
‘Me So Horny’ Rapper-Turned-Reporter Claims Huckabee ‘Wants to Bring Back Slavery’
The transcript of the radio conversation below quickly demonstrates that Huckabee never spoke in defense of slavery.
MIKE HUCKABEE: I’ve been just drilled by TV hosts over the past week-
MICHAEL MEDVED: I can imagine.
HUCKABEE: ‘How dare you say that, uh, you know, it’s [Obergefell v. Hodges] not the law of the land?’ Because that’s their phrase, ‘it’s the law of the land.’ Michael, Dred Scott decision of 1857 still remains to this day the law of the land, which says that black people aren’t fully human. Does anybody still follow the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision?
The interview reveals that Huckabee was trying to say that the gay marriage decision is no more the “law of the land” than Dred Scott was, as both were born of judicial activism. In the process, he incorrectly claimed that Dred Scott remained intact, a mistake that was corrected by radio host Michael Medved, who observed that Dred Scott was officially revoked by the 13th Amendment.
To say that Huckabee is advocating the return of slavery with his erroneous statement is not only a stretch, it is outright dishonest.
Campbell is simply trying to make African Americans fear Republicans. It’s the same thing Joe Biden did when he obnoxiously said, “They want to put y’all back in chains.”
FACT: The KKK was started by Democrats.
FACT: The last living member of the KKK to serve in American government was a Democrat.
It’s not that liberals don’t know history.
They’re just hoping no one else does.
