On Monday night Tremaine Wilbourn was taken into custody for the shooting death of Officer Sean Bolton in Memphis.
Wilbourn was on “supervisory release” (for a 121 month sentence) for a bank robbery according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Last night Tremaine’s supporters attacked reporters and chanted “Free T!” outside his grandmother’s apartment.
Via Twitchy:
According to WLBT, Wilbourn turned himself into U.S. Marshals at the federal building in Memphis just before 5 p.m., at the same time that a large SWAT team presence began to form in South Memphis near the apartment complex where Wilbourn’s grandmother lives.
WLBT reports:
People near the scene were chanting, “Free T,” frustrated by the arrest. They even directed some violence towards WMC Action News 5 crews, threatening them. The situation eventually calmed down.
