A Colorado teen was arrested after he tried to kill a police officer with his car.

Alejandro Luis Garcia was arrested early Monday morning on charges of attempted murder of a police officer. The unidentified Aurora police officer was treated and released at a local hospital.
According to police, a patrol officer was conducting a traffic stop on East Colfax Avenue at Moline Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
As the officer was walking back to his vehicle, he noticed a car traveling toward him. As Garcia’s vehicle got closer it stopped, according to police.
Police say the officer thought Garcia was giving him room to get back into his car. Instead, Garcia began to squeal his tires and accelerated toward the officer.
According to police, Garcia stuck the officer’s leg, forcing him onto the hood of his patrol car.
The officer was able to get back into his vehicle and began to pursue Garcia, but was forced to terminate the pursuit when his vehicle began to smoke, Aurora police said in a statement.
Garcia was later located and arrested at his home the same morning. He is facing additional charges of eluding and DUI.
The Aurora Police Department Facebook page posted pictures of the damaged car.
