The hostage taker in Sidney is Sheik Haron Monis – A man who previously sent hate mail to Australian war widows.

Sheikh Haron faced up to 14 years for taunting war widows.
In the video the sheikh is sitting near the parliament building about a block from the Lyndt Cafe.

Monis posed as a sheikh to grope unsuspecting women.
He was on bail for more than 50 sexual assault charges.
The holy sheikh was also charged in connection to his former wife’s gruesome murder.
The Daily Mail reported:

Sheikh Haron Monis was on bail on a charge of colluding with his girlfriend to murder his ex-wife, who was stabbed 18 times and torched outside a western Sydney unit in April 2014.

But Monis, whose real name was Manteghi Bourjerdi, has a long history with the NSW police and was also currently on bail for more than 50 sexual assault charges.

On December 12 last year, Monis, 49, and girlfriend, Amirah Droudis, 34, who is charged with murder, were both released on bail reportedly because the prosecution case against them for the death of Noleen Hayson Pal was considered ‘weak’.

Part of Monis’s bail application was that he had been ‘tortured’ in a Sydney prison during the four weeks he was held in custody following his arrest for his role in his ex-wife’s murder.
