Last year the Obama administration assured Congress and the public that the 2,200 people it freed from immigration jails to save money had only minor criminal records.
It was not true.
USA Today discovered Obama immigration officials released some undocumented immigrants who had faced far more serious criminal charges, including people charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and homicide.

Today Pinal County Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu told Neil Cavuto the Obama administration lied to him.
“2013, when we broke this story because they had released hundreds right in my county in Arizona and when I brought this out because of five courageous whistleblowers within ICE they said I was lying.
It went all the way up to the White House and they knowingly lied. It wasn’t me it was them. And there was 2,228 released in California, Arizona, Texas and Georgia. And the most troubling part of this story is now that this has been exposed that this administration knowingly lied releasing people like, my county, two that were charged with manslaughter, child molestation, aggravated assault against police officers, armed robbery. The worst thing is we still don’t know their names, where they were released to at this very moment.”
