Union Boss Threatens to Punch Common Core Critics “In the Face” (Video)

Mirroring the behavior of a toddler having a temper tantrum, New York Teacher’s Union President Michael Mulgrew threatened physical harm against those who oppose Common Core at a debate last month in California.

Referring to Common Core standards, Mulgrew told a ravenous crowd “if someone takes something from me I’m going to grab it right back out of their cold, twisted, sick hands and say it is mine!”

The New York Union Boss then went on to say that he would fight anyone who supported removing the common core curriculum from public classrooms.

“I’m going to punch you in the face and and push you in the dirt because this is the teachers!” screamed Mulgrew in an almost sardonically stereotypical accent. Adding “you do not take what is mine!”

Instead of recoiling in horror at behavior that would undoubtedly land a student in the principals’ office, the audience full of educators erupted into a thunderous applause. A camera panning over the audience revealed the entire room cheering, clapping and standing in agreement with Mulgrew’s threats against critics.

The shot is then cut to the debate’s moderator supporting a wide grin and a hearty laugh. She then adds “wherever you stand on this the passion in the room about our profession is unbelievable!”

While the majority of the audience’s reaction was positive, many left the room disturbed and afraid by what they had just witnessed.

“It was scary,” told an audience member who wished to be anonymous to the Daily News. “People were saying that he shouldn’t be around children.”
