Before and After: 23 year-old London rapper Abde Majed Abdel Bary traveled to Syria in 2013 to join ISIS.

According to MI5 and MI6 however, the killer has been identified as a 24 year old British rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Barry, or L Jinny.

British intelligence claim that they used voice recognition technology to ID the man who beheaded Foley in the now infamous video, who spoke in a clear London accent.

USA Today reports that Barry left London over a year ago to join the Islamic State. He is one of 500 British citizens believed to be fighting for the Islamic radicals overseas.

Barry is the son of a man held in the US under terror charges. In one of his songs, Barry sings about how his father was taken away when he was six, and how he wishes he would have killed the officers who arrested him.

“Give me the pride and honor like my father”

“I swear the day they came and took my dad

I could have killed a cop or two when I went in the back

Nah, imagine back then I was only six

Picture what I’d do now with a loaded six”

Barry then goes onto sing “violate my brothers and I’m filling you with lead.”

Adding:

“From a city in the west, and the west of the city

If you want vengeance invest in a strizzi (Strizh gun)

If you need protection stay blessed with the lord”

Ending the song by saying “this is just the first page of the book.”

USA Today reports that while British intelligence claim to have identified the killer, there is still no word from U.S. intelligence on the matter.

“Were not in a position to say exactly who the man in the video is yet, but we are actively working with our British counterparts to determine that every day,” said U.S. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf.
