A former VA employee in Missouri said a patient had maggots in his nose while the hospital director received bonuses for coming in under budget.
“Bonuses were given to the director for plant operations if he saved money out of his budget… But they didn’t repair the roofs. They didn’t repair the childrens’ facilities. They didn’t repair many of the pieces of infrastructure in the facility… I left and the next year the doctors said there were flies, maggots in the nose of one of the patients.”
