Afghan War deserter Bowe Bergdahl is set to return to the US on Friday.
The Huffington Post reported:
Bowe Bergdahl, the Army sergeant released last month after being held captive in Afghanistan for nearly five years, is set to return home to the United States overnight,NBC News and CNN report.
Bergdahl has been a source of political controversy since his release on May 31. The soldier was freed after U.S. officials agreed to release five Afghan detainees from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for his release.
Following his release, Bergdahl was taken to a military hospital in Germany to recover.
