Woah! This was great!
Rep. Louie Gohmert went at Attorney General Eric Holder over his flagrant disregard for contempt charges against him for his Fast and Furious program.
“So I don’t need lectures from you about contempt!”
The National Review has the exchange:
An irked Eric Holder didn’t take too kindly to Representative Louie Gohmert’s mention of the House’s holding him in contempt two years ago.
“You don’t want to go there, buddy,” Holder said during Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing, after the Texas Republican claimed the 2012 contempt vote was “not a big deal to our attorney general.”
“You should not assume that that is not a big deal to me,” he continued. “I think that it was inappropriate and it was unjust, but never think that was not a big deal to me, don’t ever think that.”
Gohmert fired back that he has seen little evidence to the contrary, because the Justice Department has still failed to provide the requested documents over which its chief was held in contempt. The documents pertained to the DOJ’s Operation Fast and Furious gun-running operation; Holder contended that the contempt vote was “all about the gun lobby.”
