Nevada Rancher Cliven Bundy talked to CNN’s Bill Weir on Thursday night about his highly publicized standoff against federal authorities. It was a big mistake. The interview was just abusive. Weir called Bundy – a Nevada rancher – a “welfare queen in a cowboy hat.”
Bill Weir: Here’s where the irony really gets thick. That you are writing off a whole class of Americans as dangerously dependent because they get government assistance but at the same time you’re grazing your cows on public land for free. So, how are you not sort of a welfare queen in a cowboy hat?
Cliven Bundy: Well I might be a welfare queen but I’m producing something for America and using a resource that nobody else can use.
