It’s an Obama world…
St. Clair County residents will be able to trade in their guns today for a $100 food voucher to Schnuck’s grocery store.
If they turn in multiple guns they get multiple vouchers.
KMOV reported:
St. Clair County residents can get a free grocery voucher during a “Gun Buy Back” event today in East Saint Louis.
Police are asking people to bring unloaded guns to the Clyde C. Jordan Center on State Street in East Saint Louis. Police deputies and State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly will be at the event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sheriff Richard Watson says that previous gun buyback programs in the county have not been a success. Sheriff Watson says people are often afraid of being questioned about their firearms.
“What I want you to know is that this is not a trick. We are not tricking you to come in with a gun so that we can arrest you,” says Watson, “We are there to sincerely get guns off the streets and give you something you can use.”
In exchange for the guns, residents will receive $100 grocery vouchers to Schnuck’s.
