Colorado Democrat Says Self Defense Is “Absurd” and “Frivolous”

Colorado’s House Majority Leader Dickey Lee Hullinghorst slammed self defense in a recent interview, calling it “absurd” and “frivolous”:

“The thought that the only way we can protect ourselves is to wield our own weapon is completely absurd and an argument that I absolutely discount as frivolous.”

Hullinghorst made no mention of Colorado’s famous case Castle Rock vs Gonzales which went all the way to the Supreme Court and established that law enforcement (in this case, police in Castle Rock, Colorado) have no legal obligation to protect your life.

Colorado Democrats previously expressed disdain for self defense when they told women that they don’t need guns if they “feel like they’re going to be raped” and “statistics aren’t on their side” in cases of self defense.
