Angry atheists let loose an online avalanche of foul epithets at former Bush administration official Dana Perino after she defended the reference to God in the Pledge of Allegiance, saying atheists “don’t have to live here” if they disagree.
Perino, who served as White House press secretary for President George W. Bush, is a regular on Fox News Channel’s weekday program The Five. She and her colleagues on the show were discussing a Massachusetts case in which an atheist family argues that the phrase “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance discriminates against atheists.

“I’m tired of them,” Perino said, adding that Congress has “spoken over and over again” in support of the Pledge’s reference to God. If these people really don’t like it, they don’t have to live here.”

Perino’s sentiments elicited obscene rage from atheists on Twitter. “F**k Dana Perino -that christian bigot c**t- and f**k Fox News!” one atheist Tweeted, while another ranted: “Shut the f**k up, you f**king christo-fascist.” And another said: “F**k jesus and your ignorant religion.” A few uncensored samples follow.
