AUDIO: Progressive Cornel West On Obama’s Speech: “Pretty Words That Hide Ugly Deeds”

Guest Post by Mara Zebest

Two progressives: Tavis Smiley and Cornel West are discussing the speakers at MLK day. A lot of truth inadvertently spilled as these progressives were being as honest as they were capable of being.

The sound bite getting the most attention is Cornel West’s assessment of Al Sharpton: “Bonafide House Negro of the Obama Plantation.” But it’s at the end of the clip that you will find the most golden quote, Tavis asks Cornel, “What did you make specifically of the President’s speech?” To which Cornel quickly retorted, “Pretty words that hide ugly deeds.”

Never thought I’d say this about two progressives… but they nail it.
